| At some point I just had to visit my own country's high point. Just going to Vaals by bus would be too easy, so instead, on a beautiful spring day, armed with a topo map, I hiked a circuit from Heerlen and back, searching out small roads and hiking trails as much as possible. And a very nice hike it turned out to be, over rolling hills, along pastures and through some woodlands. | |

| Maybe not the World's toughest climb, but an pleasant enough diversion when travelling around northeastern Belgium. Might be at its best in the depths of winter after a good snow. | |

| Whenever i'm staying in Meerssen. Good target for cycling as well. Above date is an approximation of my first climb, don't know the exact date anymore. My favorite route is without a doubt from Epen, where there's a quarry where you can find the oldest surface rocks of the Netherlands. Then up to the Vijlenerberg, a pleasant 7 km walk through the woods. Finally Vaalserberg, and decent into Vaals, bus out to Valkenburg. | |

| I might look like a peak bagger by signing this Summit Log but I am not. It is a fact that I was there once with some other Dutch and German friends (sorry belgium colleagues). It was actually a winter ascend. Everything was under 10 centimeters of white stuff and a chilly east wind. I believe that this 'mountain' has full rights to stay in the SP. It is the highest point of a country without mountains, but full of very competent and active mountaineers. Long life "Drielandenpunt". | |
