He patiently allowed me to get within about 20 feet to take this picture.
Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.

I was camped in Oklahoma's Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge last October and heard two of these guys calling out from about 4 a.m. until sunrise. It was a Boy Scout campout and the next morning the older boys woke up in Charon's Garden surrounded by a small bison heard. It was a pretty cool weekend! --mark d.
