| royanderson | Brand Park to La Tuna | |
| Not sure the exact date. Started in Brand Park with my two children and buddy Albert. We went up the route Verdugo Mountain Brand Park Canyon Hike, got to the road, then went over to Verdugo Mountain. From there, we went through the experimental forest and ended up at a hiking trail exit on La Tuna Canyon Road. A fairly long all day hike over 12 miles requiring a car shuttle. It was great, although more than everybody else expected. Many good stories about this hike. More recently, on Mar. 13, 2013, did the summit after coming up the Wildwood Canyon trail. This is a much shorter hike. | ||

| I started from the trail off of Via Montana and Country Club. Great hike, skies were clear after a heavy rain and the grass was lush and green. The views of the snow covered San Gabriels were amazing, the clear weather made this a very fun hike. I'd recommend wearing pants though as the trail is covered with shrubs | ||

| Etaoin | Up Wildwood Canyon and Down Skyline Motorway ![]() Date Climbed: Jan 2, 2008 | |
| After staring at the Verdugos for nigh on two years and starting to hike the trails in Wildwood Canyon Park a month ago, I finally arrived at the grove of antennae growing out of a fenced-in concrete bunker that surmounts the peak. I enjoyed the walk along the fire road that follows the summit ridge. The air was fairly clear and I could see Mt. Lukens to the northeast and George Deukmejian Wilderness Park beneath that mountain (I could make out a great oak I've picnicked under partway up Dunsmore Canyon. I continued past the high point and decided to descend the first trail I came to that would take me south. I expected this to be Brand Motorway, but I ended up on the abandoned Skyline Motorway, which was quite beautiful in its decrepitness, as that disuse and disrepair meant it was returning to a more natural state. The road is covered with little yellow wildflowers and quite a lot of green grass and growth wherever it enjoys shade. All told my loop from Wildwood, across to Skyline, and back around to where I had fled my car took my feet close to four hours, over 7.7 miles of terrain, and up and down 4,452 feet in elevation. This I need to calculate from my map, since my Nike+ sensor wasn't accurate at all on the steep trails. | ||

| MelbaToast | Atypical Canyon | |
| A nice winding, up and down trail. The canyon is not typical for this dry hot area. Beautiful large, old oaks and sycamores, cool and shady northside trail. Watch out for mountain bikers. | ||

| Augie Medina | Various Routes | |
| I've biked to the summit up La Tuna Canyon Trail, from Brand Park and a third route whose name I don't remember right now. I've gone to the Verdugos to bike when there was snow above 3,000 feet in the San Gabriels and I couldn't bike there. | ||
