While the lookout was destroyed by the Station Fire in 2009, the site has been cleaned up and volunteers have been manning a temporary lookout at the base of the steps to the original lookout. Funds have been raised and, on July 12 2014, volunteers with the Angeles National Forest Fire Lookout Association formed a literal "bucket brigade" and carried concrete up to the top to pour a new foundation. Using original plans for the 1935 BC-3 cab, the lookout will be rebuilt to resemble the original. Completion is expected before winter sets in.
