Long day- but a good one Date Climbed: Feb 12, 2012
Snowshoed in from the highway, so about 12 miles RT. Gorgeous weather with bright sunshine and clouds moving in and out while on the summit. Gained the summit ridge in the saddle between Vienna and Abe's.
The only other sig on the summit register was from Sean when he climbed this in Jun 2009 (and when he placed the register) so pretty light traffic. Was up on a family vacation staying at a cabin on smiley creek so hiked this peak, but my approach was from one gulch past sawmill on smiley creek road (not sure what its called). It was steep class 2 hiking (no trail) up to the ridge and then a nice scenic walk along the ridge with a view down climber right into sawmill gulch and across to Abe's arm chair, then class 2/3 scrambling up the summit block. Brought my dog so able to skirt most of the more difficult class 3 stuff. Left the road at 6:40 - summited at 9, spent 20 min on summit and back at my car just after 11 AM.
