I have no idea what this...
I have no idea what this funky minute plant is that was growing on the side of a rock in the rockpile but I deemed it bizarre enough to photograph. Kinda cool, huh?

The pale things with red caps are British Soldier Lichen, a symbiosis of Cladonia Cristatella (a fungus) with Trebouxia Erici (an algae) - the red bits are the spore-forming parts of the fungus.
The spiky green-brown plants are a moss of some kind.

Wow, hey thanks! I had no idea there was more than one type of plant/fungus there. Appreciate the help. Your profile doesn't say what you do for a living but I'm guessing plant biologist??
