The view northeast from the...
The view northeast from the summit. Spur Mountain is the nub at upper left. At bottom is the historic lookout. It was kind of a let down for me. I was expecting so much more. I think the square foundation beyond is the old base for the lookout.

A sign read:
"BONAPARTE MOUNTAIN CABIN.
National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1914 of squared hand-hewn logs, this early lookout supported a platform and heliograph (signal mirror) used to flash morse code to Tonasket [15 miles to the west]."
There was an etched drawing on the sign that showed the platform above the cabin. It was shaped like a tripod with the heliograph hanging in the middle.
