5/29/05: On Capitol's NE... [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
5/29/05: On Capitol's NE...
5/29/05: On Capitol's NE Ridge, with the moon above and Capitol Peak's summit on the right. We got onto this ridge after cutting up from the eastern slopes too quickly, and this is as close as we got to Capitol's summit. We ended up back-tracking down onto the slopes again to try to get back to the standard route. During this two-hour detour, the snow had softened so much that we decided to call it a day and turn back.

In this picture: km_donovan in the foreground, bc44caesar on the ridge, and PellucidWombat at the lower right, looking for a possible route. No dice.
