A lenticular cloud engulfs...
A lenticular cloud engulfs the summit of Mount Adams on June 9, 2005. Winds and avalanche conditions forced us to abort the summit attempt.

What route were you on when you encountered avalanche conditions?

We were on Suksdorf Ridge at about 10'200 feet. At about 10'000 feet we started to punch through a three inch windblown slab overtop about eight inches of ball bearing corn snow. The winds had picked up to 40-50mph and it was snowing BB's in the clouds. Part of me feels like we pussed out, but two days before I popped through a snowbridge and fell 30 feet into a crevasse in the Ingraham Icefall. We still summited Rainier and had enough near death experiences for one week. I'll be back to Adams and Hood next year. Thanks for the note.
