Summit Monument [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Summit Monument
A rock monument was erected on the summit of Bear Mtn. The plaque reads "This monument marks the highest ground in CT." At 2316 ft, Bear Mtn is the highest summit in the state. However it is not the state highpoint, which is located 2 miles away on the shoulder of Mt Frissell (2380 ft). Photo taken June 19, 2005.

"To lovers of the wild, these mountains are not a hundred miles away. Their spiritual power and the goodness of the sky make them near, as a circle of friends."   --John Muir
