Quandary Peak is seen from...
Quandary Peak is seen from the south in dramatic profile from North Star Mountain. The exciting West Ridge Route (left) is hidden to great extent on the mountain's unseen north face. Part of the route traverses to this south side just shy of the summit area. The Crystal Couloir Route is seen on the right, almost melted out. A touted ski descent route, this couloir is not recommended in dry conditions due to loose rock hazards. The route has been the scene of a number of fatal avalanches as well. Summer, 2005.
