San Luis Peak South Ridge Route
Minimal parking is available just before the 4WD road cuts to the left and climbs a steep hill. A fiberglass post marks the closure of the road leading to San Luis Pass. Park just shy of this post and follow this closed route as it parallels a draw to the northeast past a rocky peak. The trail gets scketchy as it crosses the Divide, but you will then see the Colorado Trail below. Follow this well constructed trail which aids in your distance coverage to the saddle south of San Luis. A developing climber's trail will lead you up the South Ridge. Class 1, 12 miles round trip.
