However, many parties choose to do this anyway because retracing their steps over Redcloud is an unattractive choice. But don't fret - there is a third and best option: complete your Redcloud/Sunshine loop by descending Sunshine's Northwest Ridge (seen across the valley). This route provides an equally pleasant descent or ascent on well-packed, solid talus; allows you to bag Colorado's 299th tallest peak – Sundog; will take you away from the crowds on the standard routes; and minimizes the damage to the environment.
