Hi,

I tried to email you but my computer would not recognize your address. Read your review on the EV 2 and was wondering if the door had a mesh backing for ventilation (zip the door down to just have mesh there) or not. Could not tell on the description or on MH's website. Wondering since the intent of this tent is for winter mountaineering if there is no mesh and ventilation would just have to come from zipping the door open (especially in your description of removing snow). If you get a chance could you let me know if this is the case. Thanks much and nice Rainier pics.

Hi

There is no mesh behind the door.

Having used it for 2 seasons of winter climbing, i have never felt it needed a mesh. I think the ventilation is quite good. it has 5 vents (3 at top and 2 near door).

I had a bibler and the ventilation sucked. i had to get something else. this tent is really unbelievable. i think the fact that it is small (low volume) helps somehow. i genreally go to sleep with all 5 open. in *really* cold winter conditions (13000ft+, blowing, frigid) i close the 2 vents by the door since my feet are at that end, and it the ventilation is still good since the blowing wind circulates into the tent . I have never used it in warm conditions. i have a MH PCT2 for that.

u will find that setup of this tent is a flash, even when it is blowing hard and snowing on top of that. the skin/shell fabric is really strong. those exterior bands are reinforced stress bands or something. the poles just clip in.

hope this helps.

Yeah thanks, I was wondering if I could use this for both warm and cold conditions since it costs a pretty penny. Sounds like it is just for colder conditions. Guess I will have to think about getting two new tents. (Ouch says my wallet.) Thanks for the info, really appreciate it. I was also considering a Stephenson's Warmlite but it sounds like this has better ventilation.
