The first step of the Mizhirgi glacier. The second much steeper step is seen in the background. The best way to negotiate all the three steps is to travel along the left-hand side of the glacier, but beware of occasional rockfalls. At normal speed it takes about a day to reach "Camp 3900m" at the foot of Koshtan.
