Looking up at South Teton's...
Looking up at South Teton's Northwest Couloir from near the saddle (August 12, 2005). In the spring and early summer the snowfield can be an obstacle requiring ice axe and crampons but by August it had melted enough so that I could walk along the talus above the snowfield.

When you read the guidebook, this area sounds terrible. Your were correct in your TR when describing it. It does not appear as bad as it sounds. Congrats on your climb of South Teton and good TR. What did you think of the Tetons when you got your first view north of Jackson? Pretty spectacular, huh?
