As you can see from this photo, late August is NOT the time
to climb Hood. The East side is a desolate, rocky wasteland.

Hasn't voted | Everything on the East side was totally rock right up to the headwalls and even on the mountain there was a lot of rock showing through. I guess you'd be on hiker trails for a while, then hit scree for a long while and from there, just glacier and rock bands. Check out my pictures... I will post one from above Cooper Spur.
