a yearling lamb marc (mountain sheep)...I guess it is not going to get any votes, lol, but a dam important aspect of this route if safety is an issue...I have seen the black bear who trolls this area, he is huge, bigger than many grizzlies. Most people do not realize, but when a black bear attacks, which is rare, but when they do, it is more of a predatory response vs defensive which characterizes most grizzly attacks. A man was just killed in Manitoba, Canada by a black bear predatory attack. Therefore, a black bear attack is normally more serious. Black bear mothers typically do not attack to protect their young. Grizzly females definitly do. We have had two grizzly mother attacks (defensive) in the past two weeks. Quite a few differences. Cheers!

This is the kind of photos I love to see, in addition to the normal peak-photos.

Interesting.

These sorts of sightings really make you think of the power these animals have. Saw similar remains of a baby bear cub 3 years ago... at the base of Mt Lorette, Dow... hehe. A ranger that later looked at it decided a cougar attack... that's another animal often underestimated.

""You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.""   --Rene Daumal
