The west face of Craig Peak [ Sizes: Orig | Small | Thumb ]
The west face of Craig Peak
The west face of Craig Peak just below the summit. The summit block can be reached easily by climbing the talus slope off the right frame of this photo, or you can follow one of the nice looking lines up this face. Photo taken from the south ridge on August 23, 2005.

The rock quality is excellent. It's pure granite. The crack doesn't look that difficult. However, my rock climbing skills are pretty average, and the route is exposed below. So I wouldn't attempt it unroped. I'm sure more skilled climbers would have no problem with it though.

There are a lot of walls like this in northern Yosemite that have probably never been climbed because they are so remote, and there are so many better routes closer to the trailheads.
