The hanging glacier on the...
The hanging glacier on the east side of Nevado Tres Cruces Sur - a unique sight in this still very dry region of the Atacama Desert.

Towards the south the precipitation increases and the glaciers and snow become more frequent (see the Cerro Pissis page) , towards the north the desert becomes drier (see the Volcan Ollague page).
The largest glaciers of the Atacama and Puna region are probably the El Potro (Chile/Argentina) and the Cerro Pissis (Argentina) glaciers.
