I have no information on what the difficulty would be for a direct ascent of the summit cliff. From the other sides it should be just a steep bushwhack/scramble. (If I'm not mistaken, Castle Rock is the cliff in the shadow on the right hand side near the narroweat point of the canyon in this picture.) From Spruce Lake it's quite impressive, though.

I've done it a couple of times. Both ascents were via a good bushwack up the south side with a little scrambling and a short, easy but exposed walk east along the ridge to the summit.
