Puffins on Fuglefjellet. They nest in thousands on the ground on the steep slope and throw themselves into the water from it. In order to get close, you have to climb up to the top.

GlennGI love Puffins!

They are one of the coolest looking birds to me. Were the birds realitively trusting, or did you sneak up on them?

I love them too! :-)

They were trusting. I moved slowly, crawling on my stomach, with careful and slow movements and they allowed me to come so close I could almost touch them. But as I didn't want to fall down the brink, I stopped quite close where the photo is taken.

We met a guy up there, a birdwatcher, and he was colourblind. The grass was very green and had the same.. amount of colour(?) as the orange feet of the puffins. When we said something about how very orange the feet were, like plastic, he told us how he at that information suddenly could see the orange, and how the entire slope suddenly became filled with thousands of orange feet.

not bad, they're quite yummy,

but it's very important that you don't burn the skin, wait until the heat of the coals are exactly right, it pays off having patience

and don't fall down the slope, while catching one, it's a hard landing on rocks.

I try to make it a policy not to fall down the slope, dinner or not!

that's very wise of you, 'cause in that case you wouldn't be needing dinner at all

yes, they are really lovely. Somehow, they don't seem real, they're too much toy-alikes

Right you all are. Once one landed close to our boat (Spitsbergen, a few decades ago); there were huge colonies of a bit more ordinary looking, black and white "Alle alle"

I like the Alle alle too. It's also a toy bird, but not as colourful.
