upper portion was very loose...
upper portion was very loose and lacked sufficient ice as shown. here is poorboy bustin out the last pitch in the couloir. photo taken 9/04/05.

That upper couloir is a lot drier than I would have expected with such a heavy snow year. Surprising!!

we were surprised too. still exciting climbing though. of the nine pitches (including summit pitch) six and a half were all ice with only minor amounts of moderate mixed climbing here and there.

The upper section was loose cl4 but probably feels harder because of patches ice and verglass.
