From Spider-Formidable Col, Diane Apter looks back at our route so far, on Stage 2 of the Ptarmigan Traverse. The sharp summit right of center is Mix-up Peak; the big one on the left is Johannesberg Mountain. Between them are Cascade Peak (L) and The Triplets (R). The opposite side of the col between Johannesberg and Cascade is the Cascade-Johannesberg (or C-J) Couloir, the site of most of those avalanches you'll hear while hiking the trail to Cascade Pass. Here, through the col, you can see Eldorado Peak. To the right of Mix-up in the distance is Forbidden Peak.
