looks beautiful. The clouds look painted in. I love the color of sky vs virtual black and white cotrast of the mountains

If it is compared to any mountain, it is compared to the shape of Matterhorn. If this photo was without the caption, I'd say that it was a shot of Matterhorn's north face. On the other hand, from this angle it looks more like Eiger from Schwarzhorn (Grindelwald). Anyhow, Assiniboine is really a unique pyramid and does not need to be compared to anything, it's just Assiniboine. I have no doubt that it is admired by Americans just like Europeans admire Matterhorn or Eiger. Cheers, Tomas :)

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on ones perspective, most American climbers would have no clue where Assiniboine is Thomas. Most Canadians do of course. It is most notable for the ease of its ascent and of course how aesthetic it is. This whole area of Kananaskis and Banff National Park is quite spectacular. Several grizzly and many moose encounters in this area. Cheers.

""You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.""   --Rene Daumal
