Kane descends the striking red rock of the Maroon Formation, which makes up the bulk of the Maroon Bells. Note the cairn at the top left. This picture is a good indicator of the conditions you'll encounter on this winding route. This view is on the descent of the Northeast Ridge route of the mountain, near the top of the second gully.
