As of July 28, 2001, trail 649 in the North Fork Sauk River valley is passable. One creek crossing that used to be made via a log and support wire is now more complicated. Either ford the creek (~2' deep) or ascend about 100m upstream to this complex of logs that allow an easy crossing.
