This is probably my best picture of the mountain. Mount Cowen is the larger more rounded spire. (Or is it a spire?)

...from left to right, the four spires are Eeny, Meeny, Miney, and Mo, with the actual summit sometimes being called the "Big Toe." Supposedly it resembles a foot.

Is this looking at Cowen from the NE (looking towards the SW)? And is the prominent ridge extending down and to the right of the summit, the NE Arete route?

Yep, I believe it is.

The large rounded mass near the middle of the photo is Mo, not the main summit of Mt. Cowen. Cowen's main summit is the more obscure one on the right, with the telltale point on top. The NE ridge is the prominent ridge that forms the right-hand skyline.

The towers south of Cowen (Einy, Meeny, Miny and Mo) were named by Ed Anacker in the 50's as he viewed them from the east fork of Elbow Creek valley floor (not the same perspective shown in this photo). Thus there is an extra "toe" visible in this photo that is not seen from the valley.
