Hurzuk is AUL ( Caucasian village) at the confluence of Ullu-Kam with Ullu-Hurzuk (both rivers is melting ice and snow of Elbrus Glaciers). Elbrus himself can be seen from certain place in Hurzuk. This AUL is cut off from the outside world although it is only 1,5 hours by bus from Karachaevsk. On the rock above AUL there is an ancient watch tower which was built at the times of Tamerlan, who marched through Caucasus. Islam was introduced in 17 century
