View from Gran Paradiso... [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
View from Gran Paradiso...
View from Gran Paradiso (4061m) towards NE. Deep below are Valnontey and Val di Cogne valleys. Behind the crest of Emilius group of Graian Alps is heavily glaciated Monte Rosa group.

Double summit on the left edge of the group is western and central Breithorn (4165m). Right are main summits of Monte Rosa. Hugged by the clouds, on the left, is Matterhorn (4478m). Between them is dark Michabel group with Dom (4545m).

Thanks Vlado! If you look better you'll notice that air is filled with flying ice crystals, which left trace even on daylight high shutter speed. That means conditions were not too good for proper enjoyment! :-)

liviozWhere...

Voted 10/10

this excellent photo was exactly made from ?

may be near "il Roc"?

Let's see if I can add anything to your detailed description:

Above the clouds, at the beginning of Valnontey, on the right there is Punta Fenilia. Starting from the village of Gimillan, at the end of the road coming from Cogne, one can see on the right the wide and long vallone di Grauson, visible up to Tessonet glacier, laying between the front ridge including Mont Creya (old magnetite mines), Testa di Money and Punta Coupè, and the back ridge with Mont Grauson and Punta di Leppe (unfortunately Tersiva is just out of the frame on the right..)

Cheers!

Thanks Livio for the comment and additional description of the view! It was made somewhere on the summit block, don’t remember exactly where but I think few meters below Madonna, possibly by the 'il Roc'.
