scottvLiberty cap terror

Voted 10/10

Thanks for this great shot. Brings back the scariest way I have ever woken up for a climb. In total darkness something big let loose up in the Liberty Cap ice fall (pictured imposingly here) making a TREMENDOUS roar and shaking the ground. We all retracted into fetal positions, covering our heads in our bags. Chunks of ice rained down. After the echoing subsided, headlamps emerged from bivy sacks and illuminated a haze of pulverized ice and scattered cubes everywhere. We all decided to just get up and enjoy being alive. We started our climb scrambling fresh ice avalanche debris the size of refrigerators and the occasional VW bus.
