This is not a very good...
This is not a very good picture of North Guardian Angel (the slab and the East Ridge on the right side), but shows how divers Zion really is. Hiking the Northgate Peaks trail I felt like in some alpine area not the desert (July 10, 2005)

picture! Actually, Zion NP is not located in
a desert - it's geographically positioned atop
the 130,000 square miles of the Colorado
Plateau in southern Utah.

To reach the true desert, you must travel to
St. George,Utah, which is in the Mojave
Desert OR Salt Lake City, which is in the
(much colder) Great Basin Desert.

I live on the northern edge of the Sonoran
Desert in central Arizona.
