We ran into this creature (~10" long) in the middle of the trail between Bottchers Gap and Skinner Ridge as we descended from Devil's Peak. He posed for photos for a while - February 1, 2003

Hasn't voted | OK, OK, you guys made me look this up this critter. He is a San Francisco Alligator Lizard a subspecies of the Northern Alligator Lizard.
