Dot Mountain on the left and... [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Dot Mountain on the left and...
Dot Mountain on the left and Ptarmigan Peak in the distance as seen from near the summit of Mt. Lago to the south on August 23, 2001. The Ptarmigan-Lago Traverse is an enjoyable route between these peaks, as it is view-or-ific and avoids the brushy, windfallen valleys. The most difficult section of this traverse is probably getting past Pt. 8165 in the center of the picture. You don't want to climb to the top of Pt. 8165 (class 5 on NW side) but instead want to take a talused, slanting ledge to the notch closely west of the point. This ledge and notch can be seen in the picture.
