| Mönch, SE Ridge | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
On the SE Ridge of the Mönch in relatively snow free conditions (L - July 1989) and very snowy conditions (R - August 1997). Photos taken in very nearly the same place.

Hasn't voted | Is this shot of the ridge indicative of the whole route? I am curious because it might be an option for me this July if it is not too much harder elsewhere on the route (as I am solo). NOAH | | Posted Apr 17, 2003 2:30 pm |

Hasn't voted | The photos here are on a relatively gentle part of the ridge.
The more difficult passages on the ridge are several rock steps 3 to 4 meters high rated II - a couple are a bit awkward in the down climb - esp. wearing crampons. Also, there is a steep (about 45 degrees) snow / ice section of about two rope lenghts. | | Posted Apr 17, 2003 3:51 pm |
