Ipasha Peak & Mount Merritt [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Ipasha Peak & Mount Merritt
I find myself lacking for words when confronted with something like this. This is Ipasha Peak (9572', on the left), and Mount Merritt (10004', on the right), with the Lithoid Cusp, the highest of the pointed spires (none of this ridge has ever been climbed) poking up between the two mountains. Photo taken from the Ptarmigan Tunnel to Ahern Pass Goat Trail. J. Gordon Edwards called this trail "The greatest twelve miles on the North American Continent." You can do it, then make up your own mind, but I will say that even for Glacier National Park, it is a jaw-dropping, hair-standing-on-end day!
