Hoyt Pk 1897 USGS monument [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Hoyt Pk 1897 USGS monument
Do you even see it in the rock outcrop at the foreground? The bolt is an inch wide and projects maybe an inch and a half. View East towards distant Long Peak.

Hoyt Peak Benchmark was monumented in 1897 and at the time, it was one of the first uses of USGS stamps on benchmark bolts in the Western US. Prior to mid-1890s, the bolts used for geodetic marks bore plain crosshairs without any lettering.
