Bentonite Hills [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Bentonite Hills
East of Capitol Reef National Park, the Hartnet Road passes through an alien realm known as the Bentonite Hills. The place defies description, so I'll let this and a few other photos do that job. The surface is that of dried mud which crumbles easily in your hand. In rain storms, this stuff would be very slick and turn the civil Hartnet Road into a slippery, slimey mess. So don't do this road in wet conditions unless you're up for a challenge. Fall, 2005.
