Strike Valley [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Strike Valley
Standing atop the Reef and looking east toward the Henry Mountains, Ellen surveys the vast emptiness of Strike Valley, which runs about half the length of the Reef due south to Lake Powell. Once the top of the Reef is gained, the route bends back to the south and follows the Reef crest. Upper Muley Twist Canyon, Capitol Reef National Park, Fall, 2005.

The utter vastness of this place is incredible.
Do you remember seeing running water? Just to the west of Capitol Reef lies Lower Bouns reservoir, in Dixie Nat'l Forest. A great place to catch trout during the summer. Thank you !!!

Indeed, the utter vastness cannot be described any better. Utterly vast for sure! There was no water on either side of the reef or within it, but it was October before the rainy season. The Reef is a amazing thing. Glad you liked the photo! Thanks for stopping by.
