Rombon from the SW [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Rombon from the SW
More than 1750m high rises the summit of Rombon above Bovec and the valley of Soca river. Here, it is seen from the SW, from the road into Ucja/Uccea valley. The normal ascent goes left of the snowy bump Cuklja (just in front of the main summit) and then through a ravine from the left side up on the summit ridge. February, 2006.

on the right behind ? Jerebica ? I have many pics with "him" (my Bovec panoramas mostly) on it but I can't figure out who is it.

No, it's not Jerebica. It's the first summit in the long range of Loška stena, called Vrh Krnice. A remote area and rarely ascended. A few hunters paths below and a pathless area above, I think.
Cheers!

Thanks. I guess neither Vrh Krnice or Loška Stena have their SP page (maybe soon, since I noticed this lack ? :)
I just gathered all my pictures of the Julian Alps in this album

Have you been up there on Loska stena, or on Vrh Krnice? The agreement on SummitPost is, that we post mountains which we know from personal experience.
Cheers,
Vid

Of course I didn't mean myself, but you :)
I wouldn't dare to post any single peak of the Julian Alps !

Well, anyone can post any summit. Regarding myself, yes I would post it, but I haven't climbed it yet. This region is a bit remote to us. One can get faster to Grossglockner than to our Bovec.

http://www.summitpost.org/image/456426/494292/the-koritnica-valley.html

is quite what is behind visentin's image. Rombon center back and a tiny bit of the Vrh Krnice's ridge (enlarge!) just opposite. The Loska Stena (the array of peaks to the left) is the longest wall in the Julian Alps. You'd difficultly make One mountain page out of it. I guess it would more of a sub-group (Area & Range?). Vrh Krnice could be one of the more than 10 mountains in the group) Tons of scrambles and alpine-trad, brilliant ice routes, but also mountaain hikes! Help is certainly needed here! One very good start is to consult vvujisic's Mali Vrh mountain page which includes brilliant photos of the Log Wall.

It depends on where you start and it also depends on how fast your horse is!

True, as far as I remember the Bovec Valley is quite tricky to reach by car from Kranj..
"Loska Stena Area is recently really getting some insights" => where ? (for my curiosity...)

And this "remote" Loska Stena Area is recently really getting some insights on (at) SP.
