Breaking trail across Dollar Lake Bench [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Breaking trail across Dollar Lake Bench
Unusually white Kings Peak greets us through the saddle between West Gunsight and Henrys Fork Peaks, promising a rare opportunity to ski all the way up ... if the gale wind doesn't kick us out first, of course.

Rob and Richard leading the pack, at about quarter to 10.

Where the moose hide? Not in the usual summer willow marshlands of the Upper Basin, that's for sure! There is plenty of willows to chew on in the foothills, too. Only once in my 9 trips up there did I see moose tracks there, all the way to Alligator Lake area. But the snowcover was unusually thin that winter.

AND you're right! I had forgotten that
the major food source for Moose are Willows.
Thanks for the information, Dmitry!!!
