Grand Prismatic Spring in the Midway Geyser Basin is Yellowstone's largest hot spring, and the third largest in the world (outside of New Zealand's big two). To get this view of it, you must park at the Fairy Falls trailhead and scramble up the hillside when walking past the geyser basin. Taken July 1, 2004.

Voted 10/10 | Very unique view! Thanks for sharing. The thick steam cloud behind the spring is the crater of Excelsior Geyser which in 1890, erupted 300 ft high and 300 ft across! | | Posted Nov 4, 2006 5:29 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks for the comment - Excelsior is actually one of my favorite geysers/springs at Yellowstone - every time I go by, I always try imagining what that eruption must have looked like. Incredible. | | Posted Dec 8, 2006 2:37 am |
