Newspaper Rock State Park is located along Highway 211 enroute to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. Obviously of creat cultural importance, Newspaper Rock is one of Utah's most ornate pictographs. What the symbols mean and are trying to communicate isn't exactly clear. The state park offers a fine and free camping alternative in a shaded area of an unnamed canyon.
