Upper icefall on Whitney Glacier [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Upper icefall on Whitney Glacier
25-June-2006: Looking back at the upper icefall and 'schrund, probably between 12500 and 13000'. We headed up the backside of Misery Hill to the summit plateau for a direct finish instead of going near this icefall for any length of time. It was a bit steeper and more sustained than going up to the top of Casaval Ridge, but IMO less hazard and perhaps more satisfying.
