Ski descent
One of the secret skiing spots of the driest desert on earth (Northern Atacama Desert) - Cerro Toco northeast side. Far away to the left one can see the snow fiels of Llullaillaco.

Thanks!
I skied in many weird places, but this was among the more exotic ones for me!

Cheers,

Was it icy? How long was the run?

Hi!

It was that typical hard pressed dry snow found in the Atacama and Dry Andes. The run itself is short, perhaps 200m vertical. But for the fun of it is OK. I descended with bike first, then hiked up again to ski down - to get something out of the day (:

It was a very dry year, and the only option in the area (except for a 300 m couloir near El Tatio). Quite a few peaks up there are skiable in snowy years (El Nino).

Cheers!
