Scarlet Paintbrush (Castilleja miniata)
Castilleja miniata is one of the most common paintbrush species, being found throughout almost all of western North America. It is found in moist open forested slopes and meadows. It can be especially prolific along roadsides. This photo was taken near Mush Saddle in the Clearwater Mountains of Idaho.
