Helvestinden [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Helvestinden
This 610 metre high cliff is located on the southern island of Moskenesoeya. The abandoned beach settlement of Bunes just below it offers an incredible campsite too. Has it been climbed?

Seems I remember a french team sieged this wall for a couple weeks back in the late 80's. I'll poke around in my files in Norway once I get back home and let you know.

has been climbed, I'm rather sure about that. Don't know by who, though. I read about some guys who tried to make the first winter ascent, which means the summer one is already done.
One can also trek up there.

Interesting to hear that it has been climbed, and I'm not suprised- such a beautiful, prominent cliff could not have been left untouched for so long...
Funny to think though, how if it were anywhere else in the world there would probably be a dozen well documented routes on it.

"...we'd splurge and buy damaged cans of cat food. We'd get them for a dime apiece, and stock up for the entire summer... it was the fancy kind of cat food , the tuna flavored stuff. I mean, I'm not the kind of person who would eat dog food or anything."   --Yvon Chouinard-
