| April 19, 2003. Daniel... | [ Sizes: Orig | Small | Thumb ] |
April 19, 2003. Daniel Krasner is up ahead in the Distance, with Whitney looming in front of us. We are just approaching Iceberg Lake at 12,600, which is around the corner on our right. From there, the Mountaineer's Route heads straight up what is the right hand side of the mountain in this photo.

Voted 10/10 | That is one cliffy mountain! It sure deserves a 10 out of 10 vote! | | Posted Jan 10, 2009 5:59 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks! It looks very intimidating from this angle. The route we took veers around to the right and goes up in the snow. | | Posted Jan 10, 2009 9:05 pm |

Voted 10/10 | did you still have to go along the edge of the cliff? | | Posted Jan 10, 2009 9:08 pm |

Hasn't voted | Not on the way up. There's a bit of scrambling, but nothing really "cliffy". What's currently photo #6 in my images shows the route up.
Once you get to the top, there's a spot where you can pretty much dangle your feet off the edge. That's pretty cool if you have the stomach for it. I kept my feet on the rock. (currently image #71) | | Posted Jan 11, 2009 2:18 am |

Voted 10/10 | So do you have to use all that eqitment; ropes, ice axes...? | | Posted Jan 11, 2009 10:43 am |

Hasn't voted | Ice axes definitely yes. Ropes were optional. We did not use ropes. Helmets were a must due to the snow/ice/rock fall from people higher up on the route. | | Posted Jan 11, 2009 2:47 pm |
