Cathedral Rock in the John Day Fossil Beds. A really neat area near Moon Mountain.

I've driven on that road past that fossil bead formation. That is the John Day River below. The highway (SR-19) closely follows the river for many miles. Constant outstanding views of the picturesque river complete with many a fly fishermen casting a hopeful line can be seen en route. It was August when I drove the road. Probably even better in the flowering season (June?).
