Scree Slopes [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Scree Slopes
This subalpine basin below the east ridge of Rocky Mountain was part of my descent route. Portions are steep, loose scree consisting of small rocks, and you can "ski" down those sections, but be careful-- other parts have rocks too large for skiing or hard-packed sections that will stop your slide and send you tumbling forward if you're caught unawares or don't react quickly enough. You could go up this way, too, following the longer but easier east ridge to the summit, but ascending scree is not high on my list of fun things to do.
